Latest Updates from Our Project:

Kickstarter Update - 28/02/25
about 1 year ago – Fri, Feb 28, 2025 at 04:36:37 AM

Hello everyone! Another month down, and we’re making great progress as we get closer to the Dragons Brew alpha launch! February has been all about refining systems, implementing major features, and squashing bugs. Here’s a rundown of what’s been worked on this past month:

February 2025 Development:

Save System Fully Functional

This was a big one! Players can now save their progress across three separate save slots. Since the game is still in development, I’d recommend not getting too attached to your save files just yet - I’ll do my best to ensure they remain intact, but things can always change as we refine systems.

Character Customisation System Now Fully Working

After a lot of troubleshooting, the character customisation system is now fully functional! Players can change their character’s appearance both in the intro scene and through the player menu at any time. While options are currently limited, I plan to expand customisation significantly in the future. This will include the ability to purchase new hairstyles and outfits at the hairdressers and tailors in town.

Farming Update – Fruit Trees Are In!

Fruit trees have now been added to the farming system. Once fully grown, they will continue producing fruit every few days - provided they’re in season. This is still a work in progress, as there are some lingering bugs to iron out, but the core system is now functional.

New Furniture & Decor Added

To give players more creative freedom, I’ve added more furniture, wallpapers, flooring, and carpet options. The selection is still fairly limited at this stage, but this is just the beginning - there will be plenty more to come in future updates!

Storage Chest Added

A storage chest has been added near the player’s bed to allow for better inventory management. For alpha, players will only have access to their toolbar, main inventory, and this storage chest to encourage careful item management. If this feels too restrictive, I’ll look into adding a more conventional storage box system or potential upgrades.

Alpha Update

Hey everyone! We’re getting really close to the Dragons Brew alpha launch, and I appreciate all your patience and excitement!

Just a quick heads-up - I’ll be away for two weeks from March 10th to 21st as I’m getting married (and then off on my honeymoon right after!). This means there won’t be any development updates during that time on Discord, but once I’m back, we’ll be in the final stretch.

Alpha is still expected to launch in the last week of March, but I don’t have an exact date just yet. There are just a few final things to wrap up, including ironing out some farming system bugs and doing general playtesting to make sure everything is as smooth as possible.

Thanks again for all the support! I can't wait for you to get your hands on the Alpha soon!

Kickstarter Update - 31/01/25
about 1 year ago – Fri, Jan 31, 2025 at 08:13:13 AM

Hello everyone! It's time for our monthly update, and I'm excited to share the progress we've made over January. Here’s a summary of the key updates and improvements that have been worked on:

December 2024 Development:

Renown Leveling System Updated

The Renown system has received a major update! It now includes tiers to expand progression and rewards. Previously there were six levels, but now we have six tiers: Standard, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Crystal. Each tier contains six levels, and as players level up through customer satisfaction, they’ll earn skill points and recipe books to unlock new recipes. More refinements are planned in the future, but the system is now in place and works great!

Daily Mini Quest System Now Live

The new daily mini quest system is now live! These quests will run alongside the main and side quests. You’ll be given random tasks, such as serving a set number of customers, selling specific items, or making deliveries to shops and houses. Completing these tasks rewards you with money, skill points, and new items or decor.

General Graphic and Town Updates

I’ve made some changes to help with delivery quests, like street signs and house numbers to make it easier for players to find their destinations. While I plan to add a town map (still in development), for now, post boxes outside of buildings provide a temporary solution. There are also new particle effects for clouds and revamped water visuals to enhance the atmosphere.

Intro Scene Added to the Game

We’ve added the intro scene, which introduces a brand-new character: the Dungeon Master. This character will appear from time to time to guide or interfere with the player. The scene is still in progress, but it’s coming along nicely!

Dungeon Master Info Panels Added to UI and Systems

To improve the game’s accessibility, we’ve added Dungeon Master info panels to various UI elements. These panels act like a tutorial or reference guide, explaining the corresponding systems without being too intrusive. The first playthrough will also include initial explanations for key systems.

New Preparation Appliances Added

Kettle, blender, and panini press appliances have been added to the game! These will be unlocked as you level up in the Renown system, along with the recipes tied to them. I’m also planning to add an appliance dealer in future updates where you can buy or upgrade appliances, but for now, they unlock automatically when you reach certain levels.

Boardgame Shelf UI & System Update + Café Menu UI & System Update

The boardgame shelf has been updated with a new active effects panel that shows the effects of each boardgame clearly. Boardgames will apply unique effects, like price boosts or satisfaction bonuses, that can impact your cafe.

The cafe menu now displays these effects alongside the price of menu items. For example, if you have Grandma’s Puzzle on the shelf, it could boost the price of cookies from 2 to 10 when it’s in mint condition. There are also variety and combo multipliers that boost item prices based on the number of menu items and the pairings of food and drink.

And to clarify, the effects stack! So if you have multiple boardgames with similar effects, their bonuses will combine for even greater results.

General Debugging and Improvements

I’ve also worked on various general debugging and system refinements to ensure the game is smooth as we head towards the alpha release. To confirm, we’re still on track for the late March alpha release, but I shall keep eveyone updated if anything changes.

🌟 Cross Promo Alert! 🌟

We’d also like to give a shout-out to Sacred, a cosy portal fantasy series, launching its Kickstarter campaign soon! Sacred is a heartfelt adventure full of talking animals, elemental magic, and overall wholesome vibes. Book 1, Eslura’s Calling, will be available with an updated cover and beautiful artwork, alongside the release of Book 2, Flames of the Awakened.

Check out their prelaunch page here: Sacred - An Epic Portal Fantasy!

If you love cozy fantasy and immersive worlds, Sacred is a project you don’t want to miss!

Thanks so much for your support and patience! The game is coming together beautifully, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon. Stay tuned!

Kickstarter Update - 02/01/25
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jan 02, 2025 at 06:57:25 AM

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year! Here’s the monthly update for December – we’ve been busy behind the scenes, and I’m excited to share the progress that’s been made!

December 2024 Development:

Item Matrix Completed

The Item Matrix is now fully completed, and all alpha items are now in the game, including their sprite art! This has been a big milestone as it helps keep things organized and balanced, and ensures we’re ready to expand as we move toward the alpha, beta, and final release.

All 100 Boardgame Visuals Completed

I’ve also completed all 100 boardgame visuals for the alpha! These will appear on the tables when customers select boardgames from your collection. This is a tedious but necessary task to give each boardgame in your collection its own look and feel, adding that extra layer of variety and immersion to the cafe experience.

New Shop – Gamekeeper’s Gambit

There’s a new shop in town – Gamekeeper’s Gambit! This shop is run by Ronan, a boardgame expert with an encyclopedic knowledge of everything boardgame-related. It’s the place where you can expand your collection, with a different selection available every week, depending on what you’ve unlocked. But act fast – boardgames don’t last forever with the new quality tier and degradation system, and you’ll need to bulk buy to complete your sets!

New Calendar System and Special Days

I’ve also been working on a new calendar system, which tracks the days and seasons in the game. Each season will bring its own changes, including what items you can buy, what crops you can grow, and what recipes you can make. On top of that, I’ve started adding Special Days to spice things up! These events will directly affect your cafe – for example, The Great Brew-Off will boost the price of drinks, and Garden Harvest Day will give you a double crop yield!

Seasons and Weather Effects

The seasons system is in place, with snow as the first weather effect, and I’ll be expanding this with dynamic weather effects in the future. Each season will influence your cafe and what you can do, making it an integral part of the gameplay!

Boardgame Research Tree System

The Boardgame Research Tree is now live! Players can unlock new boardgames based on the genres they complete sets for. You’ll acquire skill points through increasing your cafe’s renown level and completing mini quests. Not all boardgames will be acquired through research, though – some rare and legendary boardgames will be unlocked through quests, including those from Kickstarter backers.

That’s all for this month’s update! I’m excited about all the progress made so far, and I can’t wait to keep working on the game. Thanks again for all your support, and I’ll be back with more updates soon!

Kickstarter Update - 29/11/24
over 1 year ago – Fri, Nov 29, 2024 at 06:50:51 AM

Hello amazing backers!

As we wrap up the month of November, I wanted to share the latest developments on Dragons Brew, as well as an update on the Alpha. It’s been a productive few weeks, with several exciting updates and some key behind-the-scenes work.

Alpha News:

I wanted to take a moment to share an important update regarding the alpha release of Dragons Brew. Unfortunately, we’ve decided to delay the Alpha release until March of next year. This isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly, but we believe it’s necessary to ensure we deliver the best possible experience for those of you who’ve pledged for the Alpha. We want to make sure that when you get your hands on the game, it’s as polished and enjoyable as it can be!

We understand that this delay may have a knock-on effect on the Beta and the final release of the game as well. We’re committed to keeping you updated and will work tirelessly to make sure everything is up to the high standards we’re aiming for.

As always, we value your trust, and we want to make sure you’re fully in the loop with our development. We encourage you to take a look at our Trello roadmap to see what we're currently working on and what we plan to include in the Alpha (spoiler warning: some of it might be new to you)!

We can't thank you enough for being a part of this journey. We’re more excited than ever to share this adventure with you. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to craft something special.

November 2024 Development:

Character Customization

The Character Customization feature is coming along nicely! You’ll be able to personalize your character’s body type, hair, clothing, and even the cafe name. This is still a work in progress, but it’s shaping up to offer lots of creative freedom!

Build Mode

I’ve also been working on the Build Mode, where you can place and rearrange furniture in your apartment and cafe. This feature will allow you to rotate and adjust the color schemes of certain furniture pieces as you place them, giving you the freedom to design your space just how you want it. You will also have the option to change the wallpaper, flooring and rugs of your apartment and cafe with unlockable decor items.

New NPCs and Shops

I’ve added some new NPCs and shops to the game:

  • Sweeney’s Snips, run by the friendly Elias, where you can get your hair styled.
  • Seaside Stitchery, run by the talented Margot, where you can buy clothes and accessories.
  • Regal Ruffles, a shop owned by the charming couple Daphne & Owen, offering high-end furniture and decor options for your cafe.
  • Ivy Estates, run by Sebastian, where you can expand your cafe by purchasing additional property.
  • Willow’s Wand, a garden shop run by the colorful Eleanor and her cat Willow.

Farming System

The farming system is now in place! It’s a simple mechanic—plant seeds in a planter, set it, and forget it. Crops will grow over time, and you can expand your farming with tree planting and property expansion in the future. The system also includes modifiers based on weather, seasons, and even the boardgames in your cafe.

What’s Next?
That’s all for this month! I’ll continue working on new features, improvements, and expanding the world of Dragons Brew. Thanks so much for your continued support, and stay tuned for more updates soon!

Kickstarter Update - 08/11/24
over 1 year ago – Fri, Nov 08, 2024 at 08:17:33 AM

Hello everyone!

BackerKit Surveys:

All BackerKit surveys have now been sent out, so please take a moment to complete yours if you haven’t already. Don’t forget to add your free in-game dragon plushie to your pledge at the end of the survey! A quick note: there was an error with BackerKit adding a €2 shipping charge to some tiers. If you experienced this, rest assured it has been resolved, and no additional charge will be deducted from your pledge.

Development Updates:

Starting today, I’ll be posting weekly updates on our Discord to keep everyone informed about the game’s progress. This week, we’ve focused on character customization and added two new buildings to the game: Sweeney’s Snips and Seaside Stitchery. These locations will let players adjust their appearance with ease throughout the game.

To keep all backers up-to-date, I’ll also be sharing a monthly update here on Kickstarter. This update will summarize what we’ve been working on throughout the month, including highlights from the weekly updates posted on Discord. The monthly format helps us avoid spamming your inbox while keeping you fully informed.

Alpha Details:

For backers with alpha access, we’re excited to announce a tentative launch date of December 16, 2024! Our goal is to meet this date, but we’ll keep you updated if any delays arise. The alpha will give early-access backers a chance to experience the game firsthand and provide valuable feedback for the upcoming beta. Please remember that the alpha version is a work in progress, with some missing content and possible bugs. Also, we’ll be restricting streaming during the alpha phase; streaming will be allowed starting with the beta, when the game is more showcase-ready.

Thank you all for your support and patience! We’re thrilled to have you on this journey with us and can’t wait to bring you more exciting updates. 😊
