Kickstarter Update - 31/07/26
20 days ago – Fri, Jul 31, 2026 at 08:38:25 AM

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a fab July!! This month has been focused on expanding the world, improving the intro, and preparing for the next major update. Let’s dive into what’s new!

July 2026 Development:

Welcome to The Black Rook!

This month we’ve been hard at work on a brand new location...

The Black Rook! home of the mysterious Guild of Games...

Hidden away from the rest of Pebblebrook, the Black Rook is a secretive guild dedicated to the greatest board game collectors and masters! Once unlocked by reaching a certain cafe level, you’ll be able to access the location via the bus and take part in the new collection system. Inside the Black Rook, you’ll be able to:

  • Donate board games to complete genres and collections
  • Unlock exclusive Legendary Boardgames as rewards
  • Discover more about the mysterious guild and its history

And of course… there may be a few extra secrets hidden within its ancient walls. 👀

A Brand-New Intro Questline

We’ve been completely reworking the opening experience of Dragon’s Brew!

While some of the original quests will remain, we’re adding a whole new set of main and side quests designed to better introduce the games mechanics and NPCs. The original introduction contained around 23 quests... The new Act 1 will now feature a whopping 60+ quests, creating a much richer and more engaging opening before players move into the main story (coming after Early Access release).

This should give new players a much better understanding of the world and everything Dragon’s Brew has to offer!

Improved Tutorials

Alongside the new questline, we’re also improving how the game teaches new players.

Many of the older tutorial popups are being replaced with clearer, more visual guidance that introduces systems naturally as players progress. The goal is to make Dragon’s Brew easier to understand while keeping the relaxed feeling of exploring and learning at your own pace.

New Customer Queue System

Following the feedback from our Discord community poll, we’ve started improving how customers queue inside your cafe.

Previously, customers would wait in one long line. Now, they’ll stand in individual positions at the counter, meaning you’ll need to walk up to each customer to serve them. This makes serving customers feel more interactive and less repetitive!

The system is still being balanced, but it already makes the cafe feel much more alive!

🎉 25,000 Steam Wishlists!

We also reached a huge milestone this month…

Dragon’s Brew has passed 25,000 Steam wishlists! 🎉

A massive thank you to everyone who has supported Dragon’s Brew and helped us reach this incredible milestone!! Over the past couple of years we’ve been completely blown away by the kindness, excitement, and support from this community and the wider gaming world! ❤️

Wishlists are one of the biggest ways you can support an indie game before launch. They help us reach more players, improve visibility on Steam, and give Dragon’s Brew the strongest possible start when we enter Early Access.

If you haven’t already, adding the game to your Steam wishlist and sharing it with someone who might enjoy it helps more than you might think!

We’re also continuing to grow our social channels, and interacting with our posts is another fantastic way to help spread the word!

What’s Next?

Next week we’ll be focusing on:

  • Wrapping up The Black Rook and Guild of Games systems
  • Finalising the new intro questline
  • Continuing work on the customer queue improvements
  • Tackling remaining priority bugs
  • Final polish before 0.7 releases

After that, we’ll move onto 0.8, which will focus on:

  • Inventory improvements
  • Better controller and steam deck support
  • More content additions
  • Additional Kickstarter backer rewards

That’s all for now!

Thank you again for all the amazing support, feedback, and encouragement. Every update brings Dragon’s Brew closer to the game we’ve always wanted it to become, and we’re incredibly grateful to have you all along for the journey!!

Kickstarter Update - 03/07/26
about 2 months ago – Fri, Jul 03, 2026 at 09:43:16 AM

Hi everyone! I hope you've all had a great June!! It's been another busy month for Dragon's Brew, with a new beta update, major progress on localisation, and some exciting news about the future of the game. Let's dive into what's new!

June 2026 Development:

Update 0.6.1 is Live!

Earlier in June we released update 0.6.1, bringing a wide range of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and refinements based directly on your feedback.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Improvements to the crafting system
  • The ability to cancel crafting jobs
  • Fixes for several save and loading issues
  • Improvements to board game bins
  • Numerous bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements throughout the game

As always, a huge thank you to everyone taking the time to report issues and share feedback. Be sure to check out the latest changelog for the full list of improvements!

Localisation Update

One of our biggest milestones throughout June has been localisation. I'm happy to say that localisation integration is now around 95% complete! We're just finishing a handful of edge cases before handing everything over to our translators!

At the launch of Early Access, we're currently planning support for 20 languages:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Spanish - Latin America
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Korean
  • Hungarian
  • Japanese
  • Polish
  • Portuguese - Brazil
  • Portuguese - Portugal
  • Russian
  • Turkish
  • Ukrainian
  • Italian
  • Dutch
  • Indonesian
  • Thai

Making Dragon's Brew accessible to players around the world has always been a huge goal for us, so it's exciting to see this finally coming together!!

Font Update

Supporting so many languages also meant updating one of the game's core assets: the font.

We've now introduced a brand-new font across the entire game that supports all planned languages while still fitting Dragon's Brew's style! It's a relatively small change on the surface, but an important step toward ensuring the game looks great no matter which language you're playing in.

Shifting Our Focus Towards Early Access...

As we move closer to Early Access, I wanted to share a clearer picture of our development priorities.

Up until now, much of development has been focused on building the game's core systems and mechanics. While there are still some exciting new features on the way, the focus is now shifting towards refinement, polish, and stability.

Over the coming months we'll be concentrating on:

  • Fixing remaining bugs and long-standing issues
  • Improving inventory and item systems
  • Better controller and Steam Deck support
  • More QA and playtesting
  • General stability and quality-of-life improvements
  • Completing localisation support

The goal is simple: make every existing system feel polished, reliable, and enjoyable before Early Access launches.

What's Next?

Although refinement is now our main priority, there's still plenty of exciting content planned before Early Access, including:

  • The Guild of Games! A brand new location where players can donate board games to complete collections and unlock special legendary board games
  • An improved intro
  • More board games
  • Additional character customisation options
  • A storage system overhaul
  • Improvements to Special Days
  • Continued world-building across Dragon's Brew

There's still lots to look forward to!

Dragon's Brew is partnering with IndieArk!

In other news, we're also incredibly excited to share... We're now partnering with IndieArk!

IndieArk will be helping us bring Dragon's Brew to players across Asia through:

  • Localisation
  • Regional publishing
  • Marketing support

This partnership is a huge milestone for both Dragon's Brew and Radic Creative, and we're incredibly excited to make the game more accessible to players around the world!!

❤️ A Personal Thank You

Before wrapping up, I just wanted to say thank you once again for all of your continued support!!

I know it can sometimes be frustrating when bugs still exist in a game of this size. As a solo developer, a huge amount of time has gone into building the foundations that allow Dragon's Brew to continue growing. Now that those systems are in place, we're entering the next stage of development: refining everything, improving stability, and making sure the experience feels as polished as possible.

Your feedback has been invaluable throughout this journey, and Dragon's Brew genuinely wouldn't be where it is today without this amazing community.

Thank you for continuing to be part of it.

❤️

Kickstarter Update - 30/05/26
3 months ago – Sat, May 30, 2026 at 03:03:36 AM

Hi everyone! I hope you've all had a great May!! It's been another busy month of development as we prepare for Update 0.6.. Let's dive in!

May 2026 Development:

Save System Changes

With Update 0.5.4, we've introduced a brand-new save system.

Existing saves should carry over correctly, but this new setup gives us much more flexibility moving forward. Most importantly, it allows us to add additional save slots for players in future updates and support carrying progress from the demo into the full game!

Alongside this change, we've also extended the demo experience from 1 day to 2 days, giving new players more time to explore Pebblebrook, experiment with recipes, and get familiar with everything Dragon's Brew has to offer!

We've tested the new save system extensively, but if you notice any missing saves or encounter issues after updating, please let us know so we can investigate!

Character Customisation Complete!

I'm really happy to say that all base game character customisation is now complete and ready for Update 0.6!

This includes:

  • New player customisation options and new artwork
  • Updated customer artwork
  • Updated NPC artwork
  • Improved animations and visual consistency throughout the game

We're currently in the final testing and polish phase, but everything is looking fantastic so far and has made a huge difference to the overall visual quality and personality of the game!

Character Customisation Roadmap

We're planning to roll out customisation in three stages:

  • Stage 1 - Launching with Update 0.6
All core character customisation options available from the start of the game.
  • Stage 2 - Shop Customisation
Additional hairstyles, outfits, and cosmetics purchasable from Sweeney's Snips and Seaside Stitchery. This will arrive in a future update before EA launch.
  • Stage 3 - Cosplay
Full costume style outfits inspired by board game genres. These are currently planned for sometime after launch and should provide plenty of fun ways to match your character to your cafe's theme!

Improved Introduction Sequence

We've also updated the game's opening sequence to better reflect the current state of Dragon's Brew.

With the addition of character customisation, the original introduction was beginning to feel a little outdated. The revised version better showcases the new player character customisation and helps create a bit more of a cohesive experience from when you start a new save. It's a smaller change overall, but one we're really happy with, and it'll be included as part of Update 0.6.

What's Next?

We originally hoped to launch Update 0.6 this week. However, due to the scale of the new character customisation system and a handful of additional improvements, I've decided to push the release back slightly to early-to-mid next week. At this stage, we're simply focusing on final testing and bug fixing.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support, feedback, and patience throughout development. It's amazing to see how far Dragon's Brew has come, and I'm incredibly excited for everyone to get their hands on Update 0.6 very soon!

❤️

Kickstarter Update - 01/05/26
4 months ago – Fri, May 01, 2026 at 07:48:10 AM

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great April. It’s been another productive month with some really exciting systems coming together behind the scenes. Let’s take a look at what’s new in Dragon’s Brew!

April 2026 Development:

Pets System Complete (For Now!)

The Pets System is now finished (for now) and ready to go!

Every fortnight, you may receive a message about a stray animal wandering nearby. You’ll then have the option to adopt them! If you accept, you can choose the animal type (currently dog or cat), breed, and name! Your new pet will then arrive as a placeable item (along with their bed), which you can position anywhere in your cafe or apartment. For now, we’ve held off on adding a “main” companion pet, as this will tie in much better with the main story later on 🙂

New Shop System

The Shop System is now fully complete! This system allows you to sell board games directly from your cafe!

The player can purchase shop bins and shelves from Owen at Regal Ruffles and place them inside your cafe. You can then interact with them while holding a board game to list it for sale. Visiting customers will then have a chance to purchase the game for 50% of its original price!

These items will be unlocked and available to everyone in the next major update!

Monument of Legends

The Monument of Legends in King’s Park is now interactable in the latest update!

This monument includes the names of all backers who selected the Master Brewer tier or higher and opted in via the Kickstarter survey! If you’re one of those backers, please take a moment to visit the monument and check your name is displayed correctly. If anything needs adjusting, just let us know and we’ll get it sorted 😄

Character Customisation Begins

We’ve officially begun work on Character Customisation!

Working alongside the team at Isolated Games, we’ve:

  • Created new player sprites with smoother animations
  • Added a brand-new sprint animation
  • Built a strong foundation for future customisation options

We’re nearly finished with the base player sprites and initial colour options, and have also started early work on costumes! The goal is to allow players to customise their character to match their cafe style and board game themes. This is a larger system and will take some time, but it’s already coming together really nicely.

A huge thank you to the team at Isolated Games for their support on this!

What’s Next?

Next up, we’ll be focusing on:

  • Continuing development of the character customisation system
  • Expanding costumes and visual options tied to cafe and board game themes
  • Improving controller and Steam Deck support ahead of the next update!

As always, thank you so much for your continued support, feedback, and patience!

Publisher Announcement, New Key Art, Early Access Plans & Upcoming Festival Showcase!
4 months ago – Thu, Apr 16, 2026 at 10:38:48 AM

Hi everyone! We’ve got some really exciting news to share, so let’s jump straight in!

We’ve Signed with a Publisher!

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Dragon’s Brew now has an official publisher... and not just any publisher…

We’ve partnered with Isolated Games Publishing, the team behind Travellers Rest!

This is absolutely huge for us! As many of you know, we’ve been big fans of Travellers Rest for a long time and it was actually one of the key inspirations behind Dragon’s Brew in the first place. So being able to work alongside the very team that helped spark this journey feels incredibly special. This partnership is going to help us shape Dragon’s Brew into something truly amazing, and we’re already seeing the impact they’re having behind the scenes. We couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead!

New Logo & Key Art Reveal!

Alongside this, we’re thrilled to unveil our brand new logo and art!

We’ve been collaborating closely with the talented artists at Isolated Games, and together we’ve created something that really captures the cosy, welcoming charm of Dragon’s Brew. It feels like a perfect representation of the world we’re building. We hope you love it as much as we do we can’t wait to hear what you think!!!

Early Access Launch Window

Now onto launch plans…

While we’re not quite ready to announce a specific date just yet, we can share that Dragon’s Brew is now targeting an Early Access release in Q4 this year!

We know we previously hinted at Q3, but moving to Q4 gives us the time we need to properly prepare for launch and make sure everything is in the best possible place. Our plan is to launch Early Access with everything we originally promised, while creating space to keep growing and expanding the game beyond that. There’s so much more potential we want to explore like more systems, more content, more polish and Early Access gives us the opportunity to build on that together with your feedback!

In terms of platforms, the initial release will be on Steam, with console versions planned to follow shortly after. We’ll be actively working on console development during Early Access, so the gap between platforms should (hopefully!) be minimal!

Debug Game Festival Norwich

Another thing to mention, we’ll also be exhibiting Dragon’s Brew at the Debug Game Festival in Norwich on 25 April 2026 (Norwich, UK). If any of you are attending, be sure to drop by, say hi, and check out the game in person as we’d love to see you there!

That’s all for now but as always, thank you so much for your continued support. This is a massive step forward for Dragon’s Brew, and we’re so excited to take it with you

❤️
